Lately, shortly

Short post: Hobo things I have done lately:

Washed myself in a public restroom using handsoap and paper towels
Ate someone's left-over beef and rice with a pocketknife
Slept on many couches and floors
Begged for change to afford day-old-bread at a sandwich shop
Walked a lot
Used multiple free food coupons for meals
Got drunk of bourbon from an old flask
Asked for pizza bones

My hobo name is Pizzabones George. I am a very loved hobo, and I have great friends.

Dear Friends

Three days ago, I started something new. I left what home I had in the suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama and moved back to the University of Alabama, from which I graduated a few short months ago. I am now a homeless wanderer on this campus. I have very little money, and nothing but clothes and my trusty laptop. I am relying on the kindness of my beautiful friends for shelter, for which, thus far, they have been marvelously giving. I am relying on the waste of the American consumer for food, a power which can never be underestimated. I hope to use my time here to learn about myself. And I hope to get some writing done while I have all this spare time. I'm working on a novel, at the moment, and am very excited about its progress. But I also hope to chronicle my journey here in Tuscaloosa. And so begins this blog, which may fall by the wayside like so many others, or which may prove an inspiration to someone out there. This is the beginning of my journey, and we shall see where it goes from here.
